Travelling to Qatar – Getting To Qatar

Later this year, Qatar will make history as they host the first-ever World Cup held in winter, with the tournament getting underway on Nov. 21. 

How do I travel to Qatar?

Your Hayya Card is your pre-approved entry permit to the country, ensuring you have a smooth journey to the FIFA World Cup™.

Air

All commercial flights will arrive at Hamad International Airport.
All chartered flights and private jets will arrive at Doha International Airport.

Land 

Road access to Qatar is via the Abu Samra border crossing with Saudi Arabia. Travellers can continue on Salwa Road to central Doha, which is 95km from the border.

Sea

Cruise ships arrivals are scheduled by Qatar Tourism.

How do I get to my accommodation from?

Airports

Taxi – Arrivals can access metered Karwa taxis 24/7. You can pay by cash, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Scan N Pay or credit card. Karwa taxis can be ordered or pre-booked on the Karwa iOS or Android app, through the toll-free number +974 800 8294 or by speaking to a Karwa airport representative upon arrival.

Karwa taxis have accommodations for people with disabilities and/ or limited mobility. For more information, visit the Mowasalat website.

Shared ride – Careem and Uber provide rideshare services to/ from the airport through their apps, which are available for iOS and Android.

Metro – Passengers arriving to either Hamad International or Doha International airports can take the Red line directly into central Doha. Passengers can buy a travel card from any station. 

The metro has elevators, space for wheelchair users and guide dog allowances. Check with Qatar Rail before you travel. Public buses – Several Karwa buses service Hamad International Airport and this will be expanded for tournament visitors. Smart cards are available at the airport. 

Bus stations have elevators, space for wheelchair users and guide dog allowances. Visit the Mowasalat website or download the iOS or Android app before you travel. 

Rent a car – there are many car rental agents available at arrivals; however, due to high demand, road closures and diversions, it is recommended that you use public transport for all travel within central Doha.

Does my accommodation include a free airport transfer?
